Reading Ulysses in Montana #420

She was a winsome lass, and he was a losesome cad, and together they proved that you winsome and you losesome.

The mountains are lovely this time of year. The ground is green, but the mountains are still white with snow. Jackie took the sinister trail with all the syrup of a man twice her size, and the mountains trembled and the lakes quivered and the sky devoured the iron clouds of winter. Jake turned the truck up the muddy road along the river, just up from the mercantile. While the river was not yet at June’s full spate, the recent rains and early runoff had flooded the road at that one spot that is nearly at river level.

Jackie said hey, football star, bet you can’t make it through that slough. Jake geared down and accelerated into the wash, and promptly high-centered the truck with its rear differential hung up on a submerged rock that had rolled down with the snow from the hill above. Jackie lifted the truck by the back bumper and carried it warts and all to the far side. Jackie said now I’ll take you up on that corn dog.

She had proved once again that she was the winsome one.

Breathtakingly funny ! We’re in a restaurant in Siem Reap ( don’t you know) snorting and alarming the charming natives.

Put your ear to the ground Matt, let the oil bubble in, and by the time it comes out your nose you may be singing a different tune.

Love it! Love the thought of how much you must have enjoyed writing it, as well.
