We are a singular collective of hyperbolic manifestations of whittled minds. Our motto is keep sharpening that point until the only one you can hurt with it is yourself.
Pseudonyms and Antonyms
Our pseudonymous writers are Delving Yardbarker and Lefter Homes. Our antonymous writer is Rick Mallery. Angellium Figura is the intern, and Sten Smote is the moderator and substitute narrator.
Delving Yardbarker
The intuitive one. Delving publishes the Reading Ulysses in Montana series, avoids self-awareness as much as possible, and writes almost entirely in the third person–whether third person omniscient or limited, he could care less–and he also could not care less. Which is to say, he pays no attention. He’s the latest cat to the party, but the most productive.
Lefter Homes
The analytical one. Lefter publishes Cityscapes, Country Roads, The Painted Word, and any number of erudite or polemical pieces. He makes up in self-awareness what Delving lacks, and thus only he could have written Writing Reading Ulysses in Montana #0 for Delving–for us–for you. Whether that essay is an introduction, an apology, or an explanation (he prefers the word “explication”), you be the judge. Lefter writes mainly in the second person as that suits both sides of his dialectical character (he writes for himself as his own first reader); he employs his first person as a foil for you (you singular, you the specific reader reading these words. YOU! (which sometimes is only him, and he finds that situation delicious)).
Rick Mallery
The ontological one1. Rick runs the shop and publishes thoughts on his past, present, and future publications, across time, space, and being. His awareness extends to the real world (whatever that means), and, as opposed to Lefter, he writes in the first person to a general audience (you plural, all sentient (if not human) readers, past, present, and future; across time, space, and being. The royal YOU!). Rick provides the ego, Lefter the super ego, and Delving the alter ego, sacrificed on the altar of the absurd.
Angellium Figura
The intern and house poet (not necessarily in that order). Angellium publishes poetry and, as the intern, does all the busy work no one else wants to do, like editing and publishing (sometimes inventing) the transcript of the Faded Houses Green podcast, and collating and publishing the past Reading Ulysses in Montana posts with additional resources for reference. He’s the lowest paid, but we make up for it by giving him the youth and good looks Byron would envy. It’s tempting to call him the id, but the id is what drives this whole enterprise. To stretch the sequence past the sharking point, Angellium is the l’eggo-my-ego.
Sten Smote
The voiceover. We have no image of Sten because he is merely the disembodied voice that haunts our podcast as the moderator, and he now and then plays the role of the too obvious narrator in our various posts. Angellium has created an image that represents what he says he thinks of when he listens to Sten speaking. Sten has no backstory, no ambition, and therefore no ulterior motives (that we know of). He lacks awareness to the point of obliviousness, simply being a device for divulging useful information to you that none of the rest of us think of or are willing to be held accountable for.
Notes
- In the spirit of full disclosure (for those who are hung up about such things), and according to the principle that sometimes the most ironic thing is to state the obvious, this site and the content thereon are entirely the work of one person. Having wrested that confession from me, that opens to doors for the legal division to let you know that every last word, image, idea, dilemma, and error is copyrighted by Rick Mallery. Whether that’s enforceable or not depends on the weather and whether Delving or Lefter happens to be at the controls when you tangle the tango with the heart of the pun. However, in our heart of spleens, we believe that the real value of this content is in the attitude it provokes, not the objective baubles that bubble to the surface of our collective cauldron. You may find pleasure in stealing this ephemera, but do you dare learn the pleasure in conjuring eternal magic from your own creative practice of this attitude? Tragic, if you don’t at least try. ↩︎

You gave me a “like” on my blog (jillybeanswiggins.wordpress.com) and now I too have stumbled down this potential black hole. Help! There may be no escape!!

I have a lot of fun being very serious! 😂
I thought I read you had a podcast but I couldn’t find any links here.
That hasn’t gotten off the ground yet. We’ll see!
I’ve been podcasting for over 6 months now. It’s a trip. Good luck with it.
I think another carbon-based life form (I’m never sure what’s PC these days) could spend a lifetime peeling back the layers with you. A wordsmith myself, I find myself rereading you. Very interesting.
Thank you for the visit. And the comment. 😀
Thanks for your “likes” on my many short pieces of fiction, posted on the blog site, “As I Lay Living.” To receive a “like” from a writer of your caliber makes me feel like I am not a total schlep. I just enjoy writing.
Cool website. Thanks for leaving a like on my post full of grammatic errors lol. One day I hope I can get into writing my own stories too. Thanks for the inspiration.
